How to: Nurse in Public, a giveaway!

Sponsored by Tomoson.com

I'm NOT a fan of nursing in public.

Don't get me wrong, I don't care if YOU do it. I'm not going to stare disapprovingly at your baby eating his dinner. I support your right to feed your baby, however you choose.

As for me and mine, we'll be in the car. With the sun shade up. In crisis lock down mode. Hiding. Because I like my breasts covered in public. I'm a little uncomfortable with the whole process, largely because I KNOW OTHER people are uncomfortable with it.

There are a LOT of nursing covers out there. The average nursing cover acts as apron, hangs around your neck, and covers the baby like a blanket. They're like an apron on steroids...the actual neck may be stiff...to hold it out so you can see your baby.

These are about as popular as a box of rocks with most children. Actually, the rocks would probably take the number one spot-they can put those in their mouths. The aprons just get kicked, beaten, shooed. I've never had a baby that liked them, and I've nursed three.

And so, I hid.

This changed, rather quickly, last week. I received a Baby Bond Nursing cover to review.

This is big, people.

And it's just so common sense based. It's basically a sash you wear from shoulder to waist, with a double layer in the front. You simply leave your shirt on- YAY- and nurse. You do have to wear an appropriate shirt- I've used it now with button downs and nursing tanks, flawlessly, not so much with a crew neck shirt.

The baby doesn't care. This is brilliant. I may STILL have to hide occasionally, because she's easily distracted, but it won't be because I'm embarrassed anymore.

This is easily the one product I've wished I had with all of my babies- any new nursing mom would LOVE it.

Baby bond offers three different and very cute options- I chose the original in Charcoal. The others are awesome, as well!

The best part is...
Baby bond is giving one to one of my readers!

Entering is simple: Be a public follower of my blog, and tell me in a comment
how you feel about nursing in public, and which baby bond product you'd like to receive. I'll select a winner via random.org, on 4/1/11. Please make sure I have a way to get a hold of you-I'll gladly contact via email, twitter, facebook, or cafemom message, so let me know!

Good luck!

I am a huge advocate for nursing in public. I nurse here, there, and everywhere. I have yet to find a good cover that I like, so I usually nurse without one. But these covers look perfect. I would love to have the Baby Bond Couture. (espresso color)

Hi! I'm totally fine with nursing in public, but can be a little shy about it. If the Baby Bond Nursing Cover works as well as everyone says, maybe that would change! I would be excited to get a Baby Bond Couture in espresso. hrhersch@yahoo.com

I'm all for it, but my husband gets weird about it. My daughter hates being covered up! I'd choose a couture in barcelona. my email is on my profile.

Thanks for this post! I tend to hid in the car too which isn't so bad during the winter but during the summer it can get hot really fast. Where I live temperatures can get up to 101 during the summer. Great post! I'm your newest follower from McHoppin' Mondays. My blog is at http://mama-tales-blog.blogspot.com/

I never even thought twice about NIP! Whenever Mackenzie would get hungry, I would find a bench to sit down on and feed her. Sometimes I would use a cover but she would get to the point of pulling it off so this would have been great to have! If I won, I'd the BB Couture in Barcelona.

I can's say that I can relate to any of this since I didn't nurse at all. But I could see how this could make some uncomfortable in public. I had a straight bottle baby and I have to say he is on healthy and happy 3 year old.

I am your newest follower from the weekend blog hop. Have a great weekend.

What a great idea! When I was nursing my babies oh so very long ago I just used a receiving blanket and kind of made a sling with it.

I don't know how I feel about it since I haven't nursed yet, but for the moment I feel as long as you're covered well, I don't have a problem with it.

I follow via GFC & would love the Coutour in Barcelona..thanks :)

I think it's a personal choice. I'm not down with whipping out a boob in public but I don't have an issue with those who do :)
